Upendra Subba honoured

By Our Correspondent,Dharan, June 19: The central committee of the Yakthung Film Association honoured Upendra Subba, the renowned writer and director of the film ‘Jari’, during the Yakthung Festival and the Association’s first National Convention-2080 in Dharan on Sunday. 

Nabin Subba and Suraj Subba Nalwo were also honoured during the festival.

 Upendra Subba has been honoured with ‘Phaktanglung’ award while Suraj Subba Nalwo, the director of popular films like ‘Saayad,’ ‘Bato Muni Ko Phool,’ and ‘Bitekapal, received the prestigious ‘Chomolungma Award’.

 Nabin Subba, the writer and director of ‘Numafung ‘,  was also felicitated.

Navin Menyangbo, the central president of the Yakthung Film Association, expressed gratitude for the tireless efforts of these filmmakers in promoting Yakthung art, language, literature, and culture through their movies. He emphasised that their dedication had contributed to introducing indigenous films to the wider Nepali film market.

During the event, Aindra Bikram Begha, the Deputy Mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, extended his appreciation to the Yakthung community for showcasing their art, language, literature, and culture on the silver screen.
