By Our Correspondent,Chhinchu, June 16: An agreement has been reached to add a new story to the existing building and upgrade the Karnali Provincial Hospital into a 500-bed tertiary-level hospital.

The agreement was signed between the hospital's director Dr. Dambar Khadka and the contractor Gaursashyam Sundar JV Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The hospital has agreed on a construction cost of Rs. 1.024 billion.

"The number of patients visiting the hospital has been on the rise and the hospital is small to tend to all the visitors.

The new story will have VIP and deluxe cabins among others," said Dr. Khadka.

He also added that the emergency room was in the same building and they planned to construct a helipad on the top as well.

"Operation rooms and labs will also be kept in a different building," said Dr. Khadka.

According to Dr. Khadka, Karnali Provincial Hospital also looks forward to providing services as a medical college and it was prepared for it.

The existing building was also constructed by the same contractor that has been awarded the contract to add a story.

The contractor plans to complete the construction in two and a half years without disturbing the health service delivery of the hospital.
