Health camp brings joy to disabled, their families

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 5: A health camp was organised at Ward No. 8 of Mahalaxmi Municipality of Lalitpur on Saturday to provide essential support and services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families. 

It was organised by the Rotaract Club of Lalitpur Midtown, in collaboration with Chiropractic Manual Therapy Centre Private Limited, Interact Club of West Wing Secondary School and Intellectual Disable Parents Forum. 

Speaking as the chief guest, Bishwo Raj Shrestha, Chairperson of Ward No. 8 of Mahalaxmi Municipality, emphasised the importance of community involvement and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities. He helped one patient reach the doctor's room. 

Additionally, Sunil Krishna Shrestha, a Past President of the Rotary Club of Lalitpur Midtown, provided invaluable support and guided the proceedings of the event.

The health camp was possible with the sponsorship of Nepalhilfe Beilngries, Germany. A team of six experienced physiotherapist doctors from Nepal Medicitiy and CMC delivered healthcare services to the participants. 

One of the key highlights of the health camp was the comprehensive screenings conducted for all participants. These screenings received overwhelming appreciation from the parents of intellectually disabled individuals, as they provided valuable insights into the participants' health conditions and offered crucial guidance for their future care. 

The president of the Intellectual Disable Parents Forum expressed hope for the ongoing progress and self-sustainability of the enrolled individuals, urging them to prioritise follow-up check-ups. 

Letters of appreciation were handed over to the doctors, Rotaracts and Interact members for their contribution and support.
