By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 20: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma has said that the government is institutionalizing the achievements gained by the people's movement.

Speaking at the annual general assembly of the Institution Province Committee of Press Centre Nepal, Minister Sharma said that people's livelihood is being improved due to the republic, federal, secularism and inclusive proportional issues established by the revolution.

She said that all journalists and media houses should necessarily do citizen journalism and such types of journalism should be promoted keeping in heart that the news media should be voice of the voiceless.

She viewed that the republican system was assaulted from different corners now for the mistakes made by the people who ran the government badly in the past.

Minister Sharma made it clear that people's livelihood is improving due to republic system, federalism, secularism and inclusive equality, but there are some elements who are always trying to harm the system.

Minister Sharma said that the CPN (Maoist Centre) led current government is moving ahead with full of maturity to bring prosperity in the country. Therefore, the government has a confidence to set fire on itself if anyone involved in the government is found making mistake or going against people's aspirations.

Sharma further argued that government minister from the Maoist Center party were less disputed in compared to others because they don't do the works that harm the nation.

She said that the government has been planning to take action in any corruption case including the fake Bhutanese Refuses scam. So, Maoist leaders may as well be punished if they are found guilty.

In another context, Sharma said her Ministry has faced difficulty to implement its agenda and programmes because politically appointed leadership in its subsidiaries by previous government were hesitating to quit from the position. "They are sticking to the positions as they are permanent staff without knowing the nature of political appointment", she said.

In the programme, Maheshwar Dahal, the founding chairperson of the Press Center, Nepal, said that it is necessary to always raise one's voice in favour of the country and the people. The latest development of citizen journalism may also help to establish people voice in national level, Dahal said.

Likewise, Saral Sahayatri Poudel, member of Bagmati Province Assembly, asked the Press Centre to formulate its information and communication policy and programme which will be helpful to the government to work accordingly.

Similarly, chairperson of Press Center, Nepal, Bishnu Sapkota Jugal emphasized that all journalists should be involved in the action plan taken by the organisation and give voice to the people.
