Kathmandu, May 18: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has dismissed
the rumour about corruption in cantonment as baseless, imaginary and vicious.
Responding to queries of the lawmakers at the House
of Representatives (HoR) meeting today, PM Prachanda made it clear that is a
sheer allegation to link him with cantonment corruption despite the fact that Girija Prasad
Koirala was the Prime Minister and Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat was the Finance
Minister at that time.
"I am ready to go to jail if corruption is
proved in the amount distributed to the combatants kept in the cantonment, and
I am ready to conduct investigation into all cases of bribes that came to
public light since 1990," Prime Minister Prachanda said.
On the occasion, the PM also said that the
government was according priority to rehabilitation and reparation for those
who got wounded or disabled during the People's War and People's Movement.
PM Prachanda said the government is striving to
accomplish the remaining tasks of transitional justice and peace process and
that efforts are being made for a broader political understanding on this
issue.
He said an understanding among major political
parties has been forged to conclude the bills related to transitional justice
in a consensual way.
