Major parties make agreement on leadership of parliamentary committees

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Apr. 24:  The meeting of the top leaders of the major three parties has concluded making decision that the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) will lead the joint parliamentary committees.

Nepali Congress will get the president of parliamentary hearing committee wile CPN (UML) will get the president of the parliamentary committee on implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the state's guiding principles, policy and obligation, according to Padam Giri, chief whip of the CPN (UML) who also present in the meeting.

He said out of 10 thematic committees of the House of Representatives, the UML get account committee and one more committee.

Giri said the leaders reached agreement to conclude the bill on constitutional council through the parliament and the bill on transitional justice by forming a 15-member special committee. He said the current session of the parliament will run till 28 April.

Chief whip of CPN (Maoist Center) Hit Raj Pandey said the bill on transitional justice will be endorsed by the next session of the parliament as the current one will end within a couple of days.

NC chief whip Ramesh Lekhak viewed that the agreement reached today was the result of the efforts to run the parliament in agreement among all the parties and that agreement was made on the leadership of the parliament thematic committees in the same spirit.
