By Janu Pandey, Kapilvastu, April 20: Fire incidents have been occurring daily in Kapilvastu with the onset of heat waves in the area.
According to Saileshwor Bohara, Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Kapilvastu, incidents of fire are increasing as heat waves are blowing since last week.
As many as 26 huts have been gutted in a fire that broke out in Sisawa, Bijaya Nagar Rural Municipality-5, on Thursday. Around Rs 10 million losses have been estimated to have been incurred by the fire that was caught at 11 AM. The fire was taken under control after three hours with the efforts of Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and locals. The fire brigade of Shiva Raj Municipality and Krishna Nagar Municipality was used to put out the fire.
Krishna Rana Magar, Police Inspector at the Area Police Office, Ganeshpur said that seven houses with thatched roofs, 11 sheds, and five kitchens were completely engulfed by the fire., while, two concrete houses were partially burnt. Food, rags and other materials were destroyed by the fire as well. The cow’s calf died by burning in the fire.
Gopal Bahadur Thapa, Chairperson of the Bijaya Nagar Rural Municipality said that immediate help in form of food, rags, and clothes will be provided to the fire victims.
Incidents of fire have been reported in wards 8 and 5 of Buddhabhumi Municipality, wards 11 and 7 of Shiva Raj Municipality, Yesodhara Rural Municipality-8, Krishna Nagar Municipality-1, and Mayadevi Rural Municipality-6 since April 9. Property and Livestock were burnt in the fire.
Naresh Bahadur Shahi, Police Inspector at the Area Police Office, Gorusinge said that there was a fire at the Janajagriti Community forest in Buddhbhomi Municipality-3, causing damage to wood worth Rs 350,000.
Mohan Mohan Shandilya, Information Office of the Division Forest Office, Kapilvastu said that fire incidents have been occurring daily in a forest area near highways.
