Masoabi brace sends Jawalakhel to summit

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 16: Nkoto Synous Masoabi netted a brace as Jawalakhel Youth Club thrashed Manang Marsyangdi Club 3-0 in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League match played at Chyasal Stadium, Lalitpur on Saturday.

After a 3-0 comfortable victory over the recorded eight-time league winner Manang, Jawalakhel moved to the summit of the league standing with 17 points from nine matches while Manang remained at the third place with 15 points from as many matches.

Similarly, Satdobato Youth Club trailed at the second spot with 16 points from eight matches while departmental side Nepal Police Club is at the bottom of the league with four points from eight matches they played.

 South Africa’s Lesotho striker Nkoto Synous Masoabi and Fode Fofana of Guinea netted one goal apiece to send Jawalakhel to the summit of the league with a comfortable victory over domestic football powerhouse Manang.

Masoabi put Jawalakhel ahead in the fourth minute of the match after an unmarked Masoabi scored an easy goal off the cross of Sunil Khadka. 

Fofana doubled the Jawalakhel tally in the 90+2 minute. The unmarked Fofana netted through a header connecting the cross off Sami Raj Thokar.

Masoabi sealed the match for the winning side in the dying minute of the match. He made the score-line 3-0 for the winning side as scoring his individual second goals beating the offside trap of Manang in Fofana acute pass.

NRT hold holder Machhindra

New Road Team held holder Machhindra Football Club to a 1-1 draw at the ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League match played at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu on Saturday.

After sharing a point, defending champion Machhindra climbed to the sixth place with 13 points from nine matches and New Road Team is at the 11th place with seven points from nine matches they played.

Omolaja Nurain Kareem scored for Machhindra and Stephane Junior Nguimbous netted for New Road Team in a thrilling battle.

Kareem put Machhindra ahead in the 39th minute after his powerful strike from inside the box kissed the net after he scored a stunning goal in the rebound off NRT’s Janmejay Dhami who cleared the cross off Machhindra’s Devendra Tamang.

New Road team forced a draw on holder Machhindra after Stephane Junior leveled the score for NRT in the 67th minute. Stephane scored a dazzling goal from the 25-yard distance to share a point.

Khumaltar beat Army 3-2 Khumaltar Football Club registered a third win after they thrashed Tribhuvan Army Club 3-2 at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu.

With a victory over Army men, Khumaltar moved to the 10th position with 10 points from nine matches and Army men remained at the seventh spot with 12 points from nine matches.

Messouke Oloumou netted a brace while his captain Rejin Subba scored one goal for Khumaltar and Nawayug Shrestha and Sushant Chaudhary netted one goal apiece for victim 

Army men.

Messouke opened Khumaltar’s account in the seventh minute, but Army men Nawayug Shrestha leveled the score 1-1 in the 18th minute.

Messouke restored Khumaltar lead in the 27th minute as he made a score-line 2-1 for his team and Kumaltar’s skipper Rejin Subba put his team closer to the victory by making the 

score-line 3-1. 

Sushant scored a consolation goal for Army men in the 90th minute making the score-line 3-2.
