Kathmandu, April 11 :   Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has spoken highly of teachers' role to strengthen the political system.

While inaugurating the Ninth Federal Convention of Nepal Teachers' Association in Kathmandu today, the leader said teachers had always their contribution to strengthen the political system even when political parties were prohibited.

Association President Rajendra Raj Poudel said it was a matter of a grave concern that the Federal Education Act was yet to be brought even when seven years have elapsed since the promulgation of the federal democratic republic constitution.

He took time to say that offspring of teachers killed during the Maoist people's war were not properly cared for by the State.

The Convention is attended by over 700 representatives from across the country.

The Association that was established on May 13, 1990 is affiliated to the Nepal Trade Union Congress and has been expanded to the entire 753 local levels. Now it is the entity of over 80,000 members, according to Poudel. (RSS)
