Kathmandu, March 11: Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party has filed nomination for vice-presidential election representing her party.
Reaching the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor in Kathmandu today, Jha filed her candidacy in presence of the top leaders of her party. The election to the post of Vice-President is taking place on March 17.
Jha is proposed by Abdul Khan, Anita Devi, Gangaram Chaudhary, Abiram Sharma and Rupa Kumari Yadav while Goma Labh Sapkota, Binita Kumari Singh, Basanta Kumar Kushbaha, Ram Prakash Chaudhary and Rani Kumari Tiwari seconded it.
Jha asserted that her candidacy was to keep the essence of the constitution alive. Responding to the query of journalists, she replied that there was no any case or charge against her.
Talking to journalists briefly after registering of Jha's nomination, party Chairperson CK Raut expressed his confidence that the ruling coalition would determine on the common candidate of the current coalition to contest in the upcoming election.
According to him, there would be a friendly competition among the coalition partners' candidates if the coalition fails to reach a consensus on the common candidate. (RSS)
