Pregnant woman dies due to excessive bleeding in Bajura

By Sher Bahadur Sarki, Bajura, March 10: A pregnant woman has succumbed to death because of excessive bleeding in the Bajura district.

A 17-year-old Laxmi Luhar from Budiganga Municipality-2, Bajura lost her life following bleeding.

According to Brahmatola Health Post, the ultrasound checkup showed that Luhar has two fetuses in her womb. She gave birth to one child at home while the other child's birth was in the health post.

Dewaki Gautam, ANM of the Brahmatola Health Post said that Luhar's home-birthed baby girl is alive while the other baby girl was born only after reaching the health post. She said that because of blood deficiency, Luhar was referred to Bayalgada Hospital in Achham but she died on the way to the hospital. 

Gautam said that Lahuar would have been saved if she was brought to health post as she got into labour.

A few days ago, following the same reason of excessive bleeding, a pregnant woman Nitu Jaisi from Budiganga Municipality-6 lost her life.

The Health Office of the district said that four women lost their lives due to bleeding in the last four years since 2018.

Rugam Bahadur Thapa, a Statistical Officer at the Health officer, Bajura said that three died in the fiscal year 2019/2020 and one in the fiscal year 2021/2022.
