By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 5: The government has made it clear that no decision has been made to establish an University with Indian assistance in Mustang.

The expression that the government is establishing a University as per the proposal of a country targeting the other country at Varagung Muktichhetra Rural Municipality in Mustang is totally baseless and a rumour in entirety. The government has made no decision in this regard, read a press release issued today by government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma.

The government's response comes with reference to former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli who had a couple of days ago alleged that the government had permitted opening of a university with Indian assistance in Mustang thereby jeopardizing Nepal's national interests and independence.

The government said its serious attention was drawn to the news reports regarding leader Oli's expression.

The government also said that it will make public the truths after an investigation about the news reports that the Varagung Mukticheetra Rural Municipality has written a letter to the Indian embassy requesting assistance for opening a college there.

Refuting former Prime Minister and UML Chair Oli's allegation, the government has made it clear that it is not appropriate to make such expression that undercuts nation's foreign policy.

The government of Nepal is firm on sovereignty, territorial integrity, national interest and independence as well as balanced diplomacy. It is committed to non-aligned foreign policy and principle of Panchsheel. Therefore, all the people and the news media are appealed to not get swayed by such baseless rumours, read the press release.
