By Our Correspondent,Hile, Feb. 28: Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Dhankuta has distributed mini tillers, plastic tunnels, fertilisers and seeds to the farmers in subsidy. The Centre has distributed mini tillers at 50 per cent subsidy and plastic tunnels and seeds at 100 per cent subsidy to Guranshe Cow Husbandry Farmers' Group under the main highway target programme.
The centre has provided mini tillers to 10 farmers of Guranshe Cow Husbandry Farmers' Group located at Dhankuta Municipality-2.
The Farmers' Group has been selected for the main highway targeted programme on the basis of standards such as roads and access to electricity.
Nagendra Bahadur Rana, Chief of the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, informed that the mini tiller was provided to the farmers for the purpose of mechanising the farming work and reducing the cost.
For the mini tillers, the Centre had provided a subsidy of Rs. 500,000, while the farmers had participated at cost of Rs. 500,000.
Bhim Rana, Chairman of Guranshe Cow Husbandry Farmers' Group, said that the centre would provide 75 per cent subsidy and the farmer's cost participation should be 25 per cent, but since mini tillers will not be provided to all farmers, they will participate at Rs. 500,000.
The place where Guranshe Cow Husbandry Farmers’ Group is located is considered to be fertile for vegetable crops and suitable for cow rearing.
The centre said that it is also preparing to distribute mini tillers to farmers in Lisimbu of Pakhribas Municipality and Belahara of Dhankuta Municipality.
