blog

Kathmandu, Feb 6: The meeting of the National Assembly passed the 'Monitoring and Evaluation Bill, 2076' unanimously today.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, presented the bill along with the report of the legislation management committee, seeking discussion on it. She presented the bill on behalf of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Lawmaker Khimlal Devkota said the bill was positive; however, the role of local and provincial governments must be made clear. All three layers of government could intensify the monitoring to make the project effective. Incorporation of this provision in the bill is imperative, Devkota suggested.

Responding to the queries raised by lawmaker Devkota, Minister Sharma informed that the government had forwarded the bill in view of the public concern that projects were not performing up to the mark for lack of effective monitoring and evaluation.

The meeting unanimously passed the 'Archive Protection (First Amendment) Bill, 2077'.

On behalf of the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati, Minister Sharma presented the bill, seeking its passage.

The meeting also passed the 'Food Purity and Quality Bill, 2077' unanimously today. Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Jwala Kumari Saha, tabled the proposal, seeking the passage of the bill. It was presented along with the report of the legislation committee.

The National Assembly will meet next on February 10 at 5:00 pm. (RSS)
