President attends Basanta Shrawan ritual at Basantapur (Photo Feature)

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 26: President Bidya Devi Bhandari attended the Basanta Shrawan ritual today by reaching the Nasal chowk of Hanuman Dhoka durbar.

It is a tradition that on the occasion of the Saraswati Puja president attends the Basanta Shrawan.

From the era of the then king Pratap Malla this tradition has been continued. 

President was welcomed at the Nasal chowk by the Nepali Army's gun salute and musical bands.

On the occasion president Bhandari received tika, flowers and garlands from the priest.

Along with the president, vice president Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki, Speaker Devraj Ghimire and chair of National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina were also presented on the occasion of Basanta Shrawan ritual.
