Kathmandu, Jan 22 : Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation Dr Damodar Regmi has asked the cooperative campaign and campaigners to fully abide by laws since they are required to maintain discipline.
Saying that several issues have
surfaced at present from cooperatives though this sector is a reliable pillar
of the economy, Dr Regmi said some cooperatives are learnt to have remained
reluctant to pay the depositors and are not following the rules of economy.
Dr Regmi also sought cooperation
from cooperative association and federation to punish the cooperative agencies
that fail to secure the depositors’ amount.
During a meeting with Chief
Executive Officer of Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions
Elenita V. San Roque and Chief of Technical Officer of Management Ranjith
Hettiarachchi, Secretary Dr Regmi called for security of savings and
initiatives of the cooperative campaign to control money laundering. (RSS)
