Citrus Farmers Gains from Community Cold Store

By Sindhuli Correspondent, Jan 16: The citrus (Junar) farmers of Sindhuli are taking advantage of investment in cold store

Citrus farmer of Golanjor Municipality 4, Lok Bahadur Alemagar, said that he has invested Rs 245950 for community cold store. He has store 3 metric ton citrus in it.

The total investment incurred in establishment of the cold store is Rs 7 lakhs in which Rs 4, 61000 was provided by the Citrus Super Zone.

Super zone informed that it is planning to establish 5 more  community cold stores with the capacity of 10 metric ton in citrus zone of Sindhuli this year.

Chief of the super zone, Ramesh Humagain said that price of citrus in the season on December/ January ranges between Rs 70 to Rs 80 per kg. If it stored for now and sale in March/April its price increases to Rs 120.

Local residents of Sindhuli says that they earn Rs 2 lakhs Rs 20 per years from sales of citrus.

Super zone is estimating the earning of over Rs 330 million from the sales of the overall citrus this year.
