Jan 16: A team of forensic experts who arrived here from Kathmandu for establishing
the identification of those killed in the air crash has started the task of
postmortem.
Tek Bahadur KC, Chief
District Officer (CDO) of Kaski, informed that the team has begun postmortem
work following a discussion with the medical doctors and other concerned.
Forensic experts from TU
Teaching Hospital, Dr. Gopal Chaudhari and Dr. Smarika Dahal, are among the
experts who have started the postmortem.
A national committee for
identification and inspection of the bodies have been formed for the purpose,
according to the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS).
The postmortem of the
bodies of those who have relatives in Pokhara will be done at the PAHS while the
bodies of the foreign nationals, crew members and of those whose identity has
not been established will be sent to Kathmandu for the postmortem and forensic examination according a
statement by the PAHS.
Of 72 people, 68 passengers and 4 crew members, bodies of 68 have been recovered so far from the air crash site, and the rescue operation is going on.
