Nepathya performs in Surkhet

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 23: Residents of Birendranagar in Surkhet Wednesday spectacularly welcomed the folkrock musical band Nepathya.  The band that has been touring the country with a huge team for its 'Music for Humanity' campaign, had their seventh performance in Birendranagar on Wednesday. There was a significant presence of audience at the local open stage, said Nepalaya in a press statement. Like in Dhangadhi, the band began the concert with the popular song Aanganai Bhari. 

This song was the first composition of Nepathya. Nepathya also performed their hits like Bheda Ko Oon Jasto, Chekyo, Lampate Surati, Chari Maryo, Jomsome Bazaar and Min Pachas Ma, Gaun Baat Utha .The musical band is collaborating with the Manavsewa Ashram, a non-profit organisation. 

Nepathya was introduced in the capital of Karnali Province, after 15 years. Earlier, the band had come to Surkhet with the 'Education for Peace' campaign. Lead singer Amrit Gurung was supported by Dhruv Lama on the drum set, Suraj Thapa on the keyboard, Subin Shakya on the bass, Niraj Gurung on the guitar and Shanti Rayamajhi on the Madal.

The money raised from the concert is planned to be invested in the construction of the Manavsewa Ashram's own building in Surkhet. Currently, 75 people including 42 men, 29 women and four children who have lost their families are in the protection of the ashram located in Surkhet. After the completion of the concert, the Nepathya team with 70 members left for Butwal. The team is scheduled to hold a concert in Butwal on  December 24.
