NEPSE suffers landslide drop

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec.12: The benchmark of share market index, NEPSE, posted a double-digit fall on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.

 The NEPSE index fell below 1,900 points with the continuous decline of high points. The NEPSE declined by 31.97 (1.67 per cent) points and closed at 1,885.31 points today. 

The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also decreased by 6.28 points (1.68 per cent) to close at 367.37 points.

According to NEPSE, the sub-indices of all groups declined sharply in today’s transaction. Sub-index of non-life insurance group posted the highest fall of 98.40 points (1.3 per cent) followed by manufacturing and processing and life insurance group whose indices decreased by 82.02 points (1.64 per cent) and 78.44 points (0.85 per cent) respectively.

Similarly, the sub-index of finance went down by 20.98 points (1.35 per cent), hydropower by 26.47 points (1.33 per cent) and trading by 24.58 points (1.32 per cent). 

The hotels and tourism, others, development bank, microfinance and investment groups’ sub-indices decreased by 127.60 points, 21.07 points, 47.90 points, 55.33 points and 0.69 

points respectively.

Similarly, the sub-index of banking decreased by 30.80 points to close at 1,307.13 points and mutual fund by 0.12 points to close at 13.23 points.

A total of 3,512,834 shares worth Rs. 1.10 billion were bought and sold in today’s transaction.

The share price of 21 companies increased while the value of 201 companies declined today. 

The share price of CYC Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha increased by 10 per cent, Summit Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha by 9.99 per cent and Mailung Khola Jal Vidhyut Company by 9.50 

per cent.

However, share price of Nadep Laghubittiya Bittiya Sanstha decreased by 10 per cent, Panchthar Power Company by 6.97 per cent and Nepal Investment Bank by 5.74 per cent.
