By Bishnu Pandey, Kathmandu, Dec.2: The new provision of being qualified to get a driving license by getting 70 marks on the test will be implemented from coming Sunday.
Bagmati Province is going to implement this new provision from December 4 (Sunday) following the receipt of the correspondence from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT).
The other six provinces had already implemented the provision.
Raj Aryal, Information Officer of the Transport Management Service Office, Bagmati, said that this rule will be initiated in Bagmati Province from Transport Management Office, Chabahil and other offices will start implementing this provision after a week.
He said, 'The 70 per cent pass marks rule while getting a driving license will be implemented from coming Sunday from the Chabahil office. Other regional offices will follow the suit after a week due to management."
25 questions will be asked in the written exams, where one question will carry four marks after the implementation of this new rule. The examinee will have to get a 60 per cent pass mark on the written exam.
Presently, 20 questions carrying five marks are asked where the examinee had to score 50 per cent pass mark to pass the test. After passing the written exam, an opportunity for three trials will be given and those attempts must be made within 18 months. One has to score 100 per cent in the practice to get a driver’s license as of now.
Examines need to cross uphill, downhill, and L block for car license, Uphill, downhill, and narrow road needs to be crossed for getting bike and scooter license in the new provision.
There are six Transport management offices to take the license trail in Bagmati Province, of which four, that is, Chabahil, Swayambhu, Ekantakuna, and Jagati are in Kathmandu Valley. There are Transport Management Offices each in Chitwan and Hetauda.
