Gorkha, Nov 21: Vote counting under the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) has begun in Gorkha constituency no. 2 late evening today.
The counting is taking place in the Office of the Returning Officer set up at the building of the Office of the Soil Conservation and Watershed Management Office, Implementation Unit at Dalbhanjyang of Gorkha Municipality-9 in Gorkha district, informed Assistant Election Officer Shiva Regmi.
The vote counting, supposed to take place at 11:00 am onwards today, was delayed after it took time to forge all-party consensus following the protest from the CPN (UML). The counting has begun after mixing the ballot papers of three rural municipalities.
Of the total 105,240 voters in the constituency no. 2 in the district, only 53,978 were cast, the Election Office said. CPN (Maoist Centre)'s Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' is one among the contestants for HoR member from this constituency. He is representing the ruling coalition.
Also contesting in the election from the same constituency for HoR member are CPN (UML)'s Abdus Miya and Nepal Swatantra Party's Kabindra Burlakoti.(RSS)
