Nepalgunj, Nov. 18: The amount of cash prize for the Nepalgunj marathon which
has gained international recognition this year has been increased.
TS Thakuri, Chairperson
of Creative Hands, informed that the amount has been increased with the international
recognition of the Nepalgunj Marathon.
Thakuri said that
the winner of the eighth Nepalgunj Marathon to be held on November 19 will get
a sum of Rs. 150,000 in cash including a medal and a trophy. The second will
get Rs. 60,000 while the third will get Rs. 30,000 and the fourth will get Rs.
15,000.
Earlier, the winner
of the seventh Nepalgunj Marathon was awarded Rs. 110,000 only.
Similarly, the winner
of the women’s half marathon will get Rs. 60,000, the second Rs. 30,000, the third
Rs. 15,000 and the fourth will get Rs. 10,000 in cash with the medal and trophy.
Cash prizes along
with a medal will also be awarded to the 10-kilometer marathon runner under the
men’s category and the 5-kilometer marathon of the school-level student category.
The top three will
also be awarded the cash prize under the wheelchair runners.
Saugat Bikram
Shah, manager of the marathon, informed that 12 foreign marathon runners from countries
including Algeria, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Bangladesh have registered their names
to participate in the competition.
