Kathmandu, Nov. 7: Late Ujwal Thapa's book ‘Why Nepal?’, who emerged as a young leader, entrepreneur and social activist, was made public on Saturday.
Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Mohana Ansari, Dr. Govinda KC, Gagan Thapa, Manish Jha, Ashutosh Tiwari, Govinda Narayan, Thapa's wife Erika Adhikari and mother Shanta Thapa jointly launched the book.
Speaking at the programme, the former Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Dr. Wagle said that Ujwal Thapa was a leader of a different nature and the dream of Nepal that he saw has been recorded in detail in the book.
He said that when the dream seen by his friend Ujwal from his school days comes in the form of a book, ideas will also be passed on to the next generation through it. Similarly, Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa, who is also a friend of Ujwal Thapa, said that he liked his style of moving forward while deeply introspecting about his failures.
He said that a political campaign was started to promote the new generation in politics and its influence is also affecting the current politics. Therefore, he said that Thapa's personality was attractive and exemplary.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Govinda KC said that Thapa played an important role in changing the culture of Nepali politics. He said, “His working style was mind-blowing and because of that, it has motivated the political movement to be creative.” Speaking at the event, Mohana Ansari, former commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission, recalled her collaboration with Ujwal Thapa in various campaigns and expressed the opinion that the book would make it easier to implement his ideas.
“Today, another dream of Ujwal has come true. This book was prepared by Ujwal himself, he did a lot of work on the presentation and language,” said Erica Adhikari, president of Ujwal Thapa Foundation and Thapa's wife.
This book will help to know Ujwal's personality and thoughts deeply, she added. Rishiram Adhikari, president of Yatra Publishing House, said that Thapa's series of writings in the last period of his life on politics, enterprise and the vision of a prosperous Nepal have been published in the form of a book.
He said, “Thapa gave the final form to the book. However, he died due to COVID-19 while the editing continued. We have completed the editing process and published the book.”
In the book, one can read about Nepali politics, enterprise and future dreams in simple language. The book contains Thapa's thoughts and experiences as well as his life story, said Adhikari. According to the publishing house, a collectable version will also be published along with the initial edition of the book.
Similarly, it was announced in the programme that the Nepali version of the book will be published soon.
The royalties received from the book will be given to the Ujwal Thapa Foundation and spent on social work.
