Kathmandu, April 2: Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said that Radio Nepal should work in favour of the country and the people, and not the regime.
Addressing the 75th Diamond Jubilee of Radio Nepal under Public Service Broadcasting Nepal in Kathmandu today, Minister Gurung said that Radio Nepal, operated on the 'PSB model', should work in favor of the country and the people rather than the power.
Stating that Radio Nepal no longer needs to sing the praises of any political leader and party, he directed the national broadcaster to inform the general public by disseminating factual and authentic information.
On the occasion, Minister Gurung stressed the need of establishing Radio Nepal as a media house for all sections, regions and parties of the country, playing the role of inclusive character in seeking unity in diversity within the country.
Executive Chair of Public Service Broadcasting Nepal (PSB) Dr Mahendra Bista pledged to speed up the expansion of Radio Nepal's reach and guarantee the people's right to truth and information.
Stating that Radio Nepal has changed its working style in line with the development of information technology and the need of the hour, Executive Chairman Dr Bista made it clear that the service was being provided in a way that all sides of the country were adopting the concept of federal inclusion.
On the occasion, employees, best employees and outstanding artists in the field of music were honoured with awards for their 25 years of service in Radio Nepal.(RSS)
