By Radhakrishna Dumre,Waling (Syangja), Apr. 3: Preparations for the traditional Bahrabise (Chaite Dashain) fair in Waling Municipality are in full swing. The fair will continue thanks to the efforts of the local youth.

According to the locals, the Chaite Dashain Fair has been celebrated for 150 years on the banks of the Aadhi Khola, located on the border of Waling Ward No. 9 and 13.

Shyam Prasad Gaire, 91, of Waling Municipality-13, said, "We knew that the fair was held in a grand manner, and we used to collect money six months in advance to attend the fair."

Arjun Gautam, chairman of Waling Bahrabise Market Conservation Committee, informed that preparations for the fair have reached the final stage. Preparations have been made to continue the historical tradition, he said.

Gautam mentioned that the fair is being organised with the slogan: "Save the old tradition, promote the Bahrabise Market, and make it grand."

Preparations are moving quickly for the fair, which is scheduled to take place on April 6. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fair was held for three days, but last year it was celebrated for just one day with the active participation of the youth.

According to the youth, the fair has played an important role in promoting local products, traditions, and economic activities since ancient times when there were limited markets. Local products such as pottery, traditional handicrafts, and sugarcane will sell and display at the fair.
