Ankit century gives Province 1 first win at PM Cup

Kathmandu, Nov. 2: Ankit Subedi hammered a ton to help Province 1 clinch the first win while a four-wicket haul from Bhuvan Karki guided APF Club to a second consecutive victory at the PM Cup One Day National Cricket Tournament on Tuesday. 

AT TU Cricket Ground, Province 1 cruised past Bagmati Province by 69 runs. Riding on the century of opener Subedi, Province 1 posted a huge target of 305 runs in 49.5 overs. Subedi clubbed 12 boundaries and one six in his 134-ball 110 contributions. Captain Siddhant Lohani also chipped in with a half-century knock of 40-ball 72 runs. His quick-fire batting included eight maximums and three fours. Bibek Anand Mehta (30) was another major contributor to the winning team. 

Ramnaresh Giri dismissed five batters for Bagmati.  

Bagmati, in the run chase, scored 235 runs before being bundled out in 45.5 overs. 

Middle-order batter Nandan Yadev (43), Opener Ishan Pandey (35) and Ramnaresh (28), Captain Gyanendra Malla (27) and Durga Thapa (26) chipped in for the Bagmati.   Sarwan Yadev was the pick of the bowler for Province 1 with three wickets. 

In the other match at Mulpani Cricket Ground, APF notched up a 10-wicket victory over Sudurpaschim Province. The second victory in a row put the APF at the summit of Group A with four points. 

APF bowled out Sudurpaschim in 27 overs with 67 runs on the scoreboard.  Bhuvan Karki bagged four wickets in the dismissal of Sudurpaschim.  

APF eased to the victory with its opening batters Pradeep Airee and Aasif Sheikh putting on the unbeaten 68-run for the first wicket partnership. 

Sheikh top scored with 32-ball 42 and Airee hit 25 runs off 36 balls. After electing to bat first, Sudurpaschim caved into the bowling of APF. Captain Raju Rijal was the only double-digit scorer for Sudurpaschim.
