Kathmandu, Oct. 24: Tihar, the festival of light and flowers, has begun by observing Kaag Tihar on Sunday.
As part of Tihar festival, Kaag Tihar is celebrated on the first day of the five-day festival by feeding crows.
It is believed that if crows are fed on this day, it will bring good news to the persons. Since ancient times the crows are regarded as the messenger of Yamaraj, the Hindu god of death and justice.
Also the 19th crow gathering was organised at Shanti Batika, Ratna Park, Sunday morning.
On Monday, the second day of Tihar festival, Kukur Tihar will be observed by worshipping dogs. Laxmi Puja will be performed in the evening on the same day.
