Sarlahi, Oct.20: A robber gang shot the chief of an extended service centre of Sagun Savings and Cooperatives Limited at Ward No. 1 of Bagmati Municipality in Sarlahi district Wednesday morning.
Police informed that the service centre’s chief Sajan Karki, 30, was shot three times at his right hand, right thigh and lower rib.
Karki was shot at around 10:30 am at the service centre. Three individuals, with masks, who arrived in the office of the centre on a motorcycle with Indian number plate tried to rob Karki, who was carrying a bag.
However, when Karki denied providing the money, the robbers shot him and fled with his bag towards south.
However, the bag had no money. Karki had already kept the money he brought in the bag from the cooperative’s central office in Ward No. 11 of Harion Municipality safely.
Injured Karki was first taken to a nearby health centre for preliminary treatment. “He was then taken to Simara on an ambulance and then airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment,” said Keshav Dhakal, the cooperative’s chairman.
Meanwhile, Sarlahi District Police Office spokesperson Deputy Superintendent Bijay Yadav informed that they had initiated necessary investigation into the incident.
“We have started an investigation through the CCTV footages. The ones involved in the incident are being searched for,” said Yadav.
Locals of Bagmati have questioned security and safety of the people in the area after a man was shot in broad daylight in the market area.
