Kathmandu, Oct. 12: The 11th International Day of Girl Child 2022 was observed on Tuesday by organising national and district level events.
The day is celebrated globally on October 11 every year.
To mark the day, Nepali girls takeover the positions of government and non-government offices for one day under the ‘Girls’ takeover campaign’.
Under the campaign, 100 girls from nine districts take office of several organisations. Assuming offices under the programme has started from today.
Pramila Shyangten, 19, of Sindhuli district took over the position of member secretary of National Child Rights Council and Bipahsa Sah, 15, of Janakpur, took over the position of National Director of Plan International Nepal for a day to mark the day.
Swastika Khadka, 15, took over the position of Executive Editor of Nepal Live to celebrate the day.
Under the campaign, the girls will discuss various issues, including investment on girls, their empowerment, youth and women and leadership.
According to the Plan International Nepal, the girls will take over the position of government offices, media house, education institution, embassy and several organisation in the months of October and November in Jumla, Kalikot, Dolpa, Makwanpur, Dhanusha, Sindhuli and Surkhet districts.
This year International Day of Girl Child is being celebrated with the slogan of “Our time is now – our rights, our future”.
