221 new cases in 24 hours, active cases fall below 2,500

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sep. 5: With 221 new cases (RT-PCR and antigen tests combined) of COVID-19 confirmed on Monday, the nation's novel coronavirus tally has reached 997,990.

In 1,519 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 122 people were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its regular update on Monday.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 99 people in 2,539 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Currently, there are 2,444 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 132 are admitted to institutional isolation while 2,312 patients are placed in home isolation. Out of which 38 are in ICU and three are on ventilator support.  

Meanwhile, 206 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.

Nepal has now recorded 983,539 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at 98.6 per cent. 

No fatalities related to COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the MoHP. So far, Nepal's COVID-19 death toll has reached 12,007.
