Kathmandu, Sept 4 : Dipendra Singh Airee alone claimed four wickets as Nepal won the ODI match of the Bilateral Series, a game ahead of the series after they registered a 16 run victory over host Kenya in Nairobi on Saturday.
Nepal won the three-day series against host Kenya by 2-0 ahead of the final and last ODI slated for Sunday. Earlier, Nepal had thrashed host Kenya by seven wickets in the first ODI Series held on Friday.
Nepali bowlers made a heroic comeback in the bowling as Kenya’s dream to level the series was shattered as they were all-out in 46.3 overs scoring 214 runs in the allocated 50
overs match.
All-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee alone claimed four wickets while Sompal Kami grabbed three wickets and Karan KC, Pawan Sarraf and Aadil Ansari contributed one wicket each for the winning side.
Host Kenya made a poor start as their opener Sukhdeep Singh faced golden-duck-out and his opening partner Nelson Odhiambo returned to the pavilion in 28 runs. He scored 28 runs off 27 balls that included five
boundaries.
The middle order Rakep Patel scored the highest 81 runs for the home team. He scored 81 runs off 98 balls that included eight boundaries and a single six while Collins Obuya scored 37 runs off 61 balls that included five boundaries and Gerard Mwendwa scored 20 runs off 17 balls that included two boundaries and a single six.
Similarly, Captain Shem Ngoche and Nehemiah Odhiambo scored 12 runs each but other batters of the home team failed to make double digits in the match.
Earlier, visitors Nepal won the toss and were elected to bat first and they scored 230 runs with loss of all the wickets in 49.2 overs in the 50 overs match.
Skipper Rohit Paudel scored the highest 78 runs for Nepal. He scored 78 runs off 95 balls that included seven boundaries while opener Dev Khanal scored 37 runs off 55 balls that included four boundaries and Sompal Kami scored 26 runs off 15 balls that included two boundaries and a
single six.
Similarly, Gyanendra Malla scored 25 runs off 37 balls that included four boundaries while Basir Ahamad added 17 runs and Aadil Ansari contributed 14 runs for the
winning side.
Skipper Shem Ngoche, Odhiambo, and Vraj Patel grabbed two wickets apiece while Oluoch, Gerard Mwendwa and Rakep Patel took one wicket each for the home team.
