By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug 31: The bridge over Bishnumati in Teku, Kathmandu, connecting Teku and Kalimati, and the bridge under construction over the Bagmati at Tinkune, connecting Shantinagar and Tinkune, are left stranded. Pappu Construction was handed responsibility for the construction.

The operation of the bridge over the Bishnumati, which was built at a cost of nearly Rs 20 million, was paused after finding technical errors. The agreement was signed in June 2014 with a commitment to complete it in July 2016. Because of the delay in completion, the date was extended to December 2017.

Teku and Dallu bridges were to be built under the same project, which was said to be of a total cost of Rs 202.3 million.

Likewise, the construction of the three-cornered Bagmati bridge over Tinkune contracted by the Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project in December 2014 has also been stranded. The construction of the bridge was discontinued after it was found to be defective.
