848 new cases, 526 recoveries in 24 hours

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 16: With 848 new cases (RT-PCR and antigen tests combined) of COVID-19 confirmed on Tuesday, the nation's novel coronavirus tally has reached 993,858.

In 2,722 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 399 people were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its regular update on Tuesday.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 449 people in 2,897 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Currently, there are 5,259 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 197 are admitted to institutional isolation while 5,062 patients are placed in home isolation. Out of which 68 are in ICU and four are on ventilator support.  

Meanwhile, 526 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.

Nepal has now recorded 976,609 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at 98.3 per cent. 

One fatality related to COVID-19 was recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the MoHP. So far, Nepals' COVID-19 death toll has reached 11,990.
