Coordination, cooperation among public media stressed

Kathmandu, Aug 5: The coordination and cooperation among the public media has been stressed for ensuring right and authentic information to the people. It also helps deliver news of public interest.

At a discussion organized by the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) with Gorkhapatra Corporation, Radio Nepal and Nepal Television, the chiefs of the state-run news media underscored the need for adopting modern technology for the timely news service. 

The state-run media which have experienced human resources should be utilized much for the media's vibrant presence and for raising voices of the common people and the state.

On the occasion, Executive Chairperson of NTV, Samir Jung Shah, said all state-run media should b e committed to bring to light the voices of common people. The news service could be ensured in an integrated manner, he broached.

Executive Chairperson at Gorkhapatra Corporation, Bishnu Subedi, said it is imperative for the state-run media to shed the tag that they prioritize only government issues. The state-run media can win the public trust by debunking social ills. 

Similarly, RSS Executive Chairperson Dharmendra Jha said frequent discussions among the state-run media could foster cooperation and sharing of expertise and skills in reporting, editing and policy formulation.

Other speakers including NTV General Manager, Phulman Bal; RSS General Manager, Siddharaj Rai; Executive Director of Radio Nepal, Khagendra Khatri, and senior officials and editors from all four state-run media viewed how their media could be made more effective and vibrant. (RSS)
