Active cases over 5,000, new cases 814

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 2: With 814 new cases (RT-PCR and antigen tests combined) of COVID-19 confirmed on Tuesday, the nation's novel coronavirus tally has reached 987,737.

In 2,762 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 509 people were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its regular update on Tuesday.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 305 people in 2,653 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Currently, there are 5,144 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 159 are admitted to institutional isolation while 4,985 patients are placed in home isolation. Out of which 38 are in ICU and five are on ventilator support. 

Meanwhile, 299 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.

Nepal has now recorded 970,625 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at 98.3 per cent.

No fatalities related to COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the MoHP. So far, Nepals' COVID-19 death toll has reached 11,968.
