By Prakash Bikram Shah/Sher Bahadur Sarki, Dhangadhi, July 10: Ram Bahadur Baniya from CPN (UML) has been elected as mayor of the Budhiganga Municipality of the Bajura district. Similarly, UML's Maya Kunwar has been elected as deputy mayor.
Baniya won the post by receiving 1,003 more votes than the Nepali Congress candidate Ranga Bahadur Khati.
Baniya received 4,777 votes while Khati received 3,774 votes, said Laxman Kathayat, Election Officer of the Budhiganga Municipality.
Similarly, UML's Maya Kunwar received 4,727 votes whereas her competitor Nepali Congress's Rita Shahi received 3,755 votes.
UML candidates have won in wards 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9 and 10 and NC candidates have won in wards 4, 6 and 8 of the municipality. The municipality has 10 wards.
