Two cases of new variant Omicron detected in Nepal

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 6: Two cases of new variant Omicron BA.5U have been detected in Nepal

According to Dr Sangita Mishra, spokesperson of the Ministry of Heal and Population, the new sub variant BA.5U of Omicron has been confirmed in two of the 32 samples tested at the Gene sequencing at the National Public Health Laboratory.

The remaining 28 samples have found BA.2 and two people have found BA.1.

Dr Mishra informed that gene sequencing is done every two weeks in the laboratory

Coronavirus infection rates are rising again worldwide due to two new subspecies of BA.4 and BA.5 variants.
