Kathmandu, July 3 : 'Kalakarmi Digest', a monthly magazine focused on the film and entertainment sector launched on Saturday. The magazine has been launched with the objective of giving priority to the news related to the development and promotion of the film sector, according to the publishers.
Babita Dhakal is the editor of the 68-page
magazine published by journalist Krishna Bhattarai.
Speaking at the function, Kathmandu
Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol expressed the hope that the new
magazine would give a new direction to society at a time when the number of
print media outlets was declining due to various reasons.
Chairperson of the Film Artists'
Association, Rabindra Khadka, said that the field of communication and art was
important for social transformation. Actor Bhuvan KC stressed on the need to
make original films based on the Nepali lifestyle and social environment.
On the occasion, Vice-Chancellor of
Nepal Academy of Drama and Music Harihar Sharma, educationist Uttam Kumar Sanjel,
social worker Til Bahadur Karki, lyricist Ambika Gurung and social engineer
Tara Bahadur Kunwar was honored with the 'Kalakarmi' award, also including a cash
prize of Rs 5,555 each.

Dhakal said that the importance of print media will never diminish while
publisher Bhattarai said that he has tried to attract the readers back to the
print media by starting the publication of the magazine in the midst of
