Kathamdnu, Apr.25: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that people should not violate nature and invite environmental hazards.
He said so while addressing a program organized by the Lalitpur Metropolitan City in memory of the 2072 BS (2015 AD) earthquake.
He said that if we violate the laws of nature for our vested interest, we will put ourselves at risk.
Home Minister Lekhak said that the environment needs to be kept clean and that the federal, provincial, and local governments must work together to mitigate disasters.
He mentioned that today is a day to remember the suffering of the past and also to express a commitment to a safer future.
He said that the government is not only the one in the government, the Prime Minister and ministers, but also the general citizens. He suggested that since citizens are connected to the government in some way or the other, everyone needs to join hands to avoid disasters.
He said that since nature operates according to its laws and people run with their intention, people need to avoid ruining it for their vested interest.
Home Minister Lekhak said, " We are here to pay attention and remember how we can minimize disaster risk in the future, how we respond to it if it does occur, and how we carry out rehabilitation and reconstruction work."
It is important to be prepared to learn from the past and be prepared for the future, and express our commitment that we will be safe from such suffering in the future.
