Inundation disrupts Hospital services

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT  Damak, June 6: Damak Hospital, a government hospital in Jhapa, has made an effort to prevent disruption in its health services during rainy season.  The service of Damak Hospital gets interrupted when it rains. 

The hospital has been implementing health insurance scheme for the surrounding municipalities including Damak.  Devi Dangal, information officer of the hospital, said that the hospital premises get inundated during rainy season every year in lack of proper drainage. 

Emergency and other services were disrupted due to inundation on Friday.

Not only now, the hospital suffers from inundation every year when it rains heavily in the area, said Dangal. More than 1,000 patients visit the hospital on daily basis for various services including OPD.

According to the hospital, all the services were disrupted for about three hours on Friday and now necessary steps have been taken to prevent the overflow of water on the hospital premises.

A team including Hari Neupane, ward chair of Damak Municipality-1, inspected the inundated hospital area and expressed commitment to solving the problem as soon as possible. 

"It is not good to let the services in a much-needed hospital to get disturbed,  and we will solve the problem soon,” said Neupane. 

Although the problems will be solved after the service delivery of the hospital starts from its new building, the hospital has stated that it is not possible to provide all the services from the new building immediately. 

It is said that the government is preparing to provide  its services from the new building after the allocation of the required budget.
