Social activists stress on ending child marriage

Karnali, May 31 (RSS):  Social activists have stressed the need for ending social evils such as child marriage and chhaupadi customs. At a program organized by Chhetri National Federation here Monday, political analyst Dr. Surendra KC said massive public awareness is required to end child marriage in the Karnali region.    
    
"Chhaupadi system has put the women at receiving end. A collective social campaign can help end such evils," he argued.    
    
Similarly, historian Dr. Ramesh Dhungel said the time has come to protect the Masto culture of then Khas state of Karnali.    
    
"The Khas kings have an important role to protect Khas civilization," he reminded, suggesting that a research center could be established at Hatsinja of Jumla.
