By Kedar Timilsina, Banepa, March 28: BP highway has been obstructed triggered by the incessant rainfall on Friday evening. Travelling between eastern Terai and hills have been disrupted.

According to the District Police Office, Kavrepalanchok, the highway has become impassable due to a surge in water level in the Roshi River.

Several sections of the road have been fully blocked, including areas at Chowkidanda (Namobuddha Municipality–6), Ghumaune (Roshi Rural Municipality–7), Biruwadanda (Roshi–9), and Kaladhunga (Roshi–11).

Police said efforts are underway to clear the obstructions in coordination with the Road Division Office, Bhaktapur, and construction contractors.

Police have urged the public to check road conditions and remain cautious before traveling along the BP Highway.

Floods caused severe damage to a 28-kilometer stretch of the highway from Bhakundebesi to Nepal Thok in October last year.

“Meanwhile, a worker involved in highway construction, Kunsang Tamang of Roshi Rural Municipality–7, died after being swept away by floodwaters in the Roshi River,”said Rural Municipality Chairperson Dinesh Lama.
