ANFA appoints KC U20 coach

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, May 27: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Thursday appointed Megh Raj KC as the head coach of Nepal’s U-20 National Football Team.

ANFA appointed KC for the SAFF U-20 Championship and AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

One of the high profile coaches of domestic football, KC will take charge of the team from coming Tuesday. KC helped Satdobato Youth Club seal its maiden journey in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League at the fourth place.

Altogether five teams will vie for the title of the SAFF U-20 Championship. Host India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Bhutan and Pakistan are not taking part.

Bhutan is not taking part in any international footballing event after COVID-19. FIFA suspended Pakistan in April 2021 for third party interference.

The SAFF U-20 Championship will be held in India from July 1. The top two teams from the single round-robin league format battle for the title.

Nepal has been drawn into the Group B at the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers alongside Bahrain, Qatar, Bhutan and Bangladesh. The qualifiers will be held in Bahrain from September 10 to 18.
