Elected office bearers make health pledges

Baitadi/Rukum West/Dhankuta, May 22:  Pushkar Raj Joshi, elected mayor of Dashrathchand Municipality, in Baitadi, taking an oath on Friday has decided to run a health camp at ward level, free mortuary vehicle service in the municipality and listen to the complaints of citizens through telephone every Friday from 3:00 pm.

During the oath taking ceremony, Surnaya Rural Municipality chairman Ammar Bahadur Kunwar has decided to provide free ambulance service to pregnant women, the poor, the helpless, senior citizens and the injured. He is the winning candidate from CPN-UML.

Mayor Joshi informed that the plans costing more than one million rupees will be operated through contract system discouraging the work to be done through consumer committee to maintain good governance. Joshi is also the winner from CPN-UML.

As soon as he took office, Mayor Joshi demanded the details of the manpower and contract staff working in the municipality and instructed the staff to prepare the details of the plans completed in the current fiscal year and the remaining plans.

Similarly, Kaushila Chand, deputy-mayor winner of Dashrathchand Municipality, said that the work of the Judicial Committee would be made effective by appointing judicial advisors. She was nominated from Nepali Congress.

Likewise, Pushpa Badi, newly elected mayor in Chaurahajari Municipality, in Rukum West, has decided to provide free health insurance to the helpless, disabled, martyr families and citizens of the Badi community. 

After taking oath on Friday, he reached the municipality and took charge. On the occasion of taking office, Badi said that three main decisions have been taken. 

He said that the local government would provide free insurance to the citizens of the municipality who could not access the insurance after identifying the status.

He informed that he has decided to provide free ambulance service for pregnant women in the municipality. Similarly, a file has been filed to provide Rs 10,000 financial assistance to the family of a 19-day-old infant Sushila Rokay, who died in a fire incident in Municipality-6, said Badi.

Meanwhile, newly elected chairman of Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality of Dhankuta district has also signed his first decision for the local level.

The decision signed by Chairman Chhatra Bahadur Subba on Friday states that Chhathar Jorpati will provide nutrition allowance to new mothers.

“The allowance distribution has started. It will allow new mother and child to remain healthy by consuming nutritious diet,” said Subba.
