Bhotraj Rai, Udayapur, May 16: CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Dhunga Raj BK has
been elected the Chairperson of Tapli Rural Municipality in Udayapur district.
He
is the first person from the downtrodden Dalit community to have been elected
as the Chair of a local level in the district.
BK
garnered 1,778 votes to get elected against his nearest rival Baburam Rai, the
CPN (UML) candidate, who secured 1,749 votes in the local level election held
on May 13.
Similarly,
Nepali Congress candidate Man Kumari Thapa has been elected the vice Chair of
the rural municipality, with 2586 votes against her nearest rival, Man Kumari
Thapa who got 1370 votes.
Maoist
Center and Nepali Congress have forged an electoral alliance in the rural
municipality.
Of
the 5 Wards in this local level, NC and UML each won in 2 Wards while MC candidate
got elected as Ward Chair in only a Ward.
