Bhaktapur, May 16 (RSS): The Nepal Workers and Peasants'
Party (NWPP) has won the May 13 local elections for all posts: mayor,
deputy-mayor, ward chairs and members in the Bhaktapur municipality. The party
had also won the previous local elections held in 2017.
Outgoing mayor Sunil Prajapati has been elected for a second term with 29,200 votes while his nearest competitor Ram Kasula of Nepali Congress obtained 3,352.
Other contenders for the post
were Rabindra Lachhimasyu (2,837votes) from the CPN (UML), Satyaram Twayana (2,345
votes), and Badri Lakhaju (1,138 votes) from Rashtriya Prajatantra Party and Tulasi
Bhakta Suwal (742 votes) from the CPN ( Maoist Centre).
Rajani Joshi secured 29,695 votes
against 2,784 polled by her nearest competitor from the CPN (UML), Ranjana
Chapagain Khaburja.
Shyam Krishna Khatri (ward 1), Hari
Prasad Basukala (2), Raj Krishna Gora (3), Upendra Suwal (4), Yogendra Man
Bijukhhe (5), Hariram Suwal (6), Ukesh Kwan (7), Krishna Prasad Koju (8),
Rabindra Jyakhwa (9) and Laxmi Prasad Hyuanmikha (10) are elected ward chairs
in the town.
