IGP Aryal directs personnel to ensure peaceful poll

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, May 10: Inspector General (IG) the Armed Police Force Nepal (APF) Raju Aryal Monday directed junior officers and personnel to remain committed to conduct the upcoming local elections in a peaceful and fearless environment. IGP Aryal lauded the enthusiastic mobilisation of its staff in the field of election security. He said that a monitoring team has been mobilised from the head office, Kathmandu to closely monitor the activities of the APF personnel in the areas of responsibility including ration management, health, discipline, demonstration of professionalism, operations in border security, and control of smuggling.

IGP Aryal also directed to make maximum use of available resources for the purpose of election security, follow the policy directives received from the government, coordinate and cooperate with various agencies, maintain economic discipline, respect human rights and remain active in discharging responsibilities. 

The IGP warned that action would be taken against the armed police personnel involved in sexual violence and non-professional conduct. 

He said that the armed police personnel should not share or post their activities on social media while operating in the security sector. Meanwhile, APF Headquarters has mobilised a separate inspection team under the command of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Superintendents of Armed Police (SP) in every province to keep record of the personnel and officers deployed for the election purpose. 

For the purpose, the Headquarters has given the charge to SSP Kamal Prasad Tiusina for Gandaki Province, Kiran Basnet for Province 1, Uddhav Bahadur Neupane for Madhesh Province, Rajendra Khadka for Sudurpaschim Province, and Yuva Raj Aryal for Lumbini Pradesh. Similarly, SPs Top Bahadur Khanal, and Achyut Kumar Majgaiyan are given responsibility to monitor the activities of Bagmati and Karnali Province respectively.
