Asian Development Bank (ADB) is investing in Pokhara's long-term development in the tourism sector. Under the investment, projects of urban infrastructure and upgrading the living standards of the locals are being implemented, and several others are in the pipeline. Teams led by Pokhara Metropolitan City's Mayor Dhanraj Acharya and ADB Director Wan Farisan bin Wan Sulaiman also met recently and discussed different issues including the recent coordination. Pokhara is implementing several projects for sewage, road and footpath improvement in coordination with ADB. The 8.8-km section from Shahid Chowk to the Pokhara International Airport (PIA) is being upgraded under a total investment of 5.34 million dollars by ADB.
The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) has put forth its 12-point riders on the Electricity Bill-2080 tabled in the Parliament public. Organising a press conference on Sunday, it made the opinion public stating that although the system for developing power projects through competition is good, the provision for government and the private sector should not be arranged separately. President of IPPAN Ganesh Karki said that apart from issuing electricity distribution and customer service licenses and opening the doors for electricity trade for the private sector, other points had reduced the role of the private sector in energy development. Karki said that the electricity bill that prohibits the private sector, which accounts for 70 per cent of electricity production, will not fulfill the government's plan to bring prosperity through energy. The government of Nepal prepared and registered the Electricity Bill, 2080 to amend and unify existing laws related to electricity in the Parliament Thursday.

The 66-year-old Lama did not know anything about dragon fruit until two years ago. The informative videos of dragon fruit farming that he watched on YouTube during the lockdown of COVID-19 pandemic became an inspiration for him. The video he watched at that time led him to commercial dragon fruit farming. He said that he started cultivating dragon fruit after getting information from YouTube.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of Nepal Police arrested six individuals on various dates for their alleged involvement in smuggling 3.239 kilograms of cannabis via postal service from abroad. Investigators informed that the cannabis was hidden inside different items with hollow space inside. According to the NCB, they confiscated 900 grams of cannabis on September 5 from a cartoon box parcelled to the Birgunj Postal Office via Goshwara Postal Office in Dillibazaar, Kathmandu. The box was sent from the United States of America (USA). "The parcel was checked in Dillibazaar's Postal Office. When we found it was cannabis, we sent it to the destination under controlled delivery (under surveillance)," read a statement of the arrest made public by the NCB on Sunday. Both married and unmarried women will be observing Haritalika Teej in a grand manner on Monday. The women will fast the whole day wishing for a prosperous life, perpetual luck and happiness for their families, husbands and children. The festival, which was limited to the women of the Brahmin and Kshatriya castes in the past, is now marked also by women belonging to other ethnic groups. Teej is a three-day long festival-- Dar Khane (feasting day), Teej (the fasting day) and Rishi Panchami. The women feast on the second day of Bhadra Krishna Paksha and fast even without drinking water the next day, which is called Haritalika Teej. The main festival associated with Goddess Parvati falls on the third day of Bhadra Krishna Paksha.

The project to establish new towns in different places of Karnali is not gaining momentum even after a decade. The work of building infrastructures essential for a city is too sluggish. Although budget is allocated every year, the project has not made satisfactory progress due to poor execution. In order to check the migration from hills to the Tarai, the government brought the project to build a new town in Rakam of Dailekh district. The government had carried on the project to build the new town with all the important infrastructures through planned urbanisation. Due to budget crunch and dispute over land, the targeted work could not be accomplished.
