HoR elections: 13.79 million ballot papers printed so far
Kathmandu, Feb 10: Total 13 million 791 thousand ballot papers have been printed for 110 constituencies of 47 districts for the upcoming election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5.According to the Election Commission, this number of ballot papers have been printed for Dolpa, Mugu, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum (West), Salyan, Surkhet, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Panchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Dhankuta, Baglung, Gulmi, Jhapa, Gorkha, Myagdi, Parbat, Nawalparasi (Susta West), Morang, Udayapur, Mustang, Lamjung, Tanahu, Syangja, Bardiya, Rukum East, Dang and Banke districts. Around 1.5 million ballot papers are being printed every day. Similarly, 20 million 830 thousand ballot papers for proportional representation electoral system have already been printed. Total 20 million 323 thousand ballot papers have to be printed for first-past-the-post electoral system. (RSS)
Prime Minister directs to be vigilant for election security
“The election must be conducted in a secure manner,” Prime Minister Karki said. “Based on the experience of previous elections and an analysis of the various dimensions of the upcoming polls, work in a flawless manner by coordinating with all security agencies according to security sensitivities.”
Bodies of three Nepali killed in Meghalaya coal mine blast cremated in India
According to Prakash Khapangi Magar, who reached the incident site, those cremated were 27-year-old Purna Bahadur Khapangi Magar, 24-year-old Surendra Khapangi Magar, and 35-year-old Nara Bahadur Khapangi Magar of Salghari Bhanjyang, Barahapokhari Rural Municipality–1, Khotang. All died in a blast in a coal mine in Meghalaya on February 5.
